Drent and Kleen Kut (Illwords) are Rhode Island emcee friends of mine that I've known and performed alongside for years. When they were gearing up to make their debut album, they asked me to play the role of bully in their song about bullying and suicides that occur because of it.
I thought back to middle school and high school, where I wouldn't say I was a bully, but I did my fair share of making fun in the name of just a little attention or escape from the mundane days. It was more interesting to me to not approach the character as a cliche bully who was motivated by parental abuse, but as an average person just ragging on others to get the day by, who was unaware of the consequences of their malignant influence on others...until it was too late. I think this could often be the case.
It took two drafts to fully write this verse because of that decision, and I think it's stronger for it. The message and concept overall is important and any opportunity to work with the justifiably esteemed Ceschi is not one to pass up.
lyrics
Life is but a dream and we're all to row the River Styx
It isn't as if Pops popped tops, blacked eyes or livers sick
we mocked odd black sheep, had a ball, they fell for it for kicks
(it's the Charlie/Lucy punt gag Schultz had in the strip)
Let's explain: Exams are scams and tests are lame
“the world's a stage” we demonstrate with extras played
invent nicknames, make fun and get through days
center stage killer class clowns, character assassins,
staring at his facets, bent, apparent he's a faggot,
(hunched) hunched his posture from carrying the Atlas,
alas, no burying the hatchet, he's the only thing that's buried
is the head that's in my hand's since
stuffing him in lockers just prepared him for his casket...
Heart's a black hole emulating his pounding and beating
reading a death note to a weeping mother and seeing
his end throne is our capstone and crowning achievement
a headstone we ushered in and shoved him beneath it

Creating to connect. Obsessively exploring and creating art as healing and growing.
Deeply vivid/introspective lyrics populate this ambitious folk rock project. The arrangements span from mellow/minimal to rocking and grandiose. Consistently emotive, unique and sincere. Brilliance. AllOne
Progressive yet punk, aggro yet emotional. One of my favorite bands from Long Island and doing everything they can to live up to their name, raising money for causes and making badass music, AllOne
